Basketball Recap: Dunbar Piles Up the Points Against Northwest

A well-balanced attack led Dunbar over Northwest in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Dunbar Wolverines blew the Northwest Knights out of the water with a 62-20 final score. With the Wolverines ahead 35-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Dunbar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Donisha Davis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Davis is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 24 games she's played dating back to last season. Blessyn Preston was another key player, putting up 20 points and five steals.

Dunbar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Dunbar has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Northwest, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home.

Dunbar has already played their next match, a 50-37 win against Trotwood-Madison on the 8th. Northwest has also already played their next contest (against New Miami), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
