Basketball Recap: Diego Ambriz's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Williams over Winters

If Williams was riding high fresh off their 71-42 takedown of CORE Butte on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yellowjackets took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winters Warriors on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost six in a row.

Williams' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diego Ambriz, who posted 24 points. The game was Ambriz's fifth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Murillo, who scored 18 points.

Williams' loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Williams won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lindhurst at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Winters will take on Dixon in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
