Softball Recap: California Beats Foothill for Their Fourth Straight Victory

California came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Foothill Falcons with a sharp 10-2 victory. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Audrey Cotton looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jayda Crosby was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Reese Stiner was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

California kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

California's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Foothill, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4-1.

Looking ahead, California will square off against Liberty at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Foothill, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Monte Vista at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th.
