Basketball Game Preview: Port Isabel Tarpons vs. Rio Hondo Bobcats

Port Isabel hasn't had much luck against Rio Hondo recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tarpons will head out to square off against the Bobcats at 8:00 p.m.

Port Isabel can't be too happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Thursday. They took a blow against Harvest Christian, falling 98-25.

Meanwhile, Rio Hondo took care of business in their home opener on Saturday. They walked away with a 45-32 victory over San Benito.

Rio Hondo found their leader in sophomore Carlie Rodriguez, who posted 23 points and seven rebounds. Evan Ayala was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight boards and four steals.

Port Isabel took a serious blow against Rio Hondo in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 61-25. Can the Tarpons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
