League recap: Smart races to league-leading run for Cape Coral

5A District 14 recap September 17, 2013

Cape Coral's Eamon Smart recorded the longest rushing play in 5A District 14 this season in his game against Ida Baker last week. Smart's team lost to the Bulldogs as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 103 in all.

Quinn Bourque and Justin Parmeley provided fans with a highlight when they connected against South Fort Myers. The connection went for 68 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.

Island Coast's dynamic duo of Bourque and Eric Russaw proved tough for the Wolfpack to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bourque threw for 289 yards and Russaw had 80 yards receiving. Theodore Mitchell helped Island Coast's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 76 yards.

The Gators' dynamic duo of Bourque and Russaw proved to be unstoppable against South Fort Myers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Smart was the most successful running back in the league this week.

Bourque put up the best numbers through the air as Island Coast bested Grant Redhead's team.

Russaw was the best receiver in 5A District 14 this week as Joe Bowen's team beat the Wolfpack.

The Gators are currently in third, while Lemon Bay is in second.

The Manta Rays scaled the state rankings by moving to 288 from 330 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Lemon Bay climbed the ranks as a result of beating LaBelle 56-21.
