Basketball Recap: Portersville Christian Gets the Win

Portersville Christian's game back in December of 2024 was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They managed a 61-57 victory over the Jefferson County Christian Royals. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Portersville Christian also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Jefferson County Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mark Jenkins, who went 10 for 21 on his way to 21 points and four steals. Jenkins is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Lee Gump was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

The win got Portersville Christian back to even at 2-2. As for Jefferson County Christian, they moved to 5-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portersville Christian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Jefferson County Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Jefferson County Christian, they will venture away from home to challenge East Liverpool Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
