Basketball Game Preview: Sullivan County Griffins vs. Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Red Raiders

The Sullivan County Griffins will head out to square off against the Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Red Raiders at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Wednesday, Sullivan County lost to South Williamsport on the road by a 61-45 margin. The Griffins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Marian Catholic on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Marian Catholic by a score of 72-69. One positive for the Red Raiders, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Our Lady of Lourdes Regional has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Sullivan County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Things could have been worse for Sullivan County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-41 loss to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Sullivan County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
