Basketball Recap: Sunday's Defeat Ends Hoover's Winning Streak

If Hoover was feeling good fresh off their 62-22 takedown of Lake last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hoover Vikings took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Montour Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 111th in Ohio, while the Spartans are ranked 11th in Pennsylvania).

Montour got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaleb Platz out in front who went 8 for 18 en route to 23 points and six rebounds. The game was Platz's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ama Tening Sow, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards.

With the loss, Hoover broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-6. As for Montour, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.

Hoover is taking a road trip to take on Louisville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Louisville will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Hoover surely won't give up without a fight. Montour has already played their next contest (against Thomas Jefferson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
