Basketball Recap: Mansueto Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rowe-Clark, Mansueto was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Noble Street College Prep Golden Tigers by a score of 36-28. That's more bragging rights for the Leopards, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Several Golden Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tiffany Gaona, who posted five points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Gaona a new career-high in blocks (two). Sarai Gonzalez was another key player, putting up five points along with five boards and five steals.

Mansueto's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Noble Street College Prep, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

After both having extra time off, Mansueto and Baker will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Mansueto's defense has only allowed 25.8 points per game this season, so Baker's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Noble Street College Prep, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Golder at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Both have allowed few points on average, (Golder: 26.1, Noble Street College Prep: 25.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
