Basketball Recap: Hughesville Comes Up Short

Hughesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Selinsgrove Seals, falling 81-35. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-22.

Selinsgrove got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Xaivier Jackson out in front who posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Bastian, who scored 16 points.

Hughesville's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Selinsgrove, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Hughesville and Selinsgrove could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Hughesville will square off against Lewisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 464 places (616 vs. 152). Similarly, Selinsgrove (ranked 356th) will meet Danville (ranked 79th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
