The Tigers, who had to schedule a pair of teams from Mexico because they couldn’t find an opponent, improved to 4-0 with a resounding 46-29 win over previously unbeaten DeSoto (Texas) in a battle of Texas and national powers on Friday night.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Sam Kelley rushed 23 times for 186 yards and two touchdowns and the team’s secondary intercepted Ryan Polite three times in the second half, two that led to touchdowns.

Polite threw for 339 yards and three scores, but the interceptions were critical.

It was the lowest scoring output of the year for the high-scoring Eagles, who came into the game ranked 44th in the nation and No. 6 in the state. DeSoto (3-1) entered No. 63 and 9.

St. Xavier (Cincinnati, Ohio) 17, Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) 10

Junior running back Conor Hundley rushed 25 times for 210 yards to lead St. Xavier to the road win over Kentucky’s top-ranked team.

It’s the second straight week St. Xavier (3-1) has knocked off the Bluegrass State’s top-ranked team, defeating St. Xavier of Louisville last week 32-13.

The Ohio power is now 7-2 against Kentucky opponents.

St. Xavier controlled the clock by rushing for 239 yards to 115 for Trinity (3-1). The Bombers also won the time of possession 27:32 to 18:32 and was way more efficient on third down (9 of 14, compared to just 2 of 9 for Trinity).

Hundley scored on runs of 91 and 1 yards.

Trinity’s only touchdown was the game’s first score, a 1-yard run by Derek Bishop, who had 102 yards on 17 carries.

Trinity entered No. 47 in the country and St. Xavier was No. 48 nationally and No. 6 in Ohio, according the MaxPreps Freeman rankings.
