Recap: Central Valley Cougars vs. Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets
The Central Valley Cougars's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 46-29 victory over Heartland Lutheran. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Central Valley also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Central Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Callie Wadas out in front who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayle Grossart, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Heartland Lutheran's loss came despite strong showings from Ema Koch and Aubree Fisket. Koch scored 11 points, while Fisket scored five points along with five steals. Koch continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aryka Keiper, who scored two points along with two steals and two blocks.
Central Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Heartland Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Central Valley will take on Anselmo-Merna at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Heartland Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Edward at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. St. Edward is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
