Basketball Recap: Checotah Comes Up Short

Checotah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Okemah Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Panthers are ranked 86th).

Checotah's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Okemah, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Okemah beat Checotah by a score of 74-48 on Saturday.
