Softball Recap: Three Straight Road Victories for Cowan

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cowan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Monroe Central Golden Bears by a score of 8-3. The Blackhawks haven't had any issues with the Golden Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Savannah Hall made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over eight innings pitched. Hall was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Bryleigh Hiatt and Taylor Young did most of the damage at the plate: Hiatt went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Young went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Candice Matson, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Cowan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Cowan pushed their record up to 4-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Monroe Central, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Cowan will host Knightstown at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monroe Central, they are taking a road trip to square off against Wes-Del at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
