Baseball Recap: Sheldon Comes Up Short

Sheldon had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 13-13-1 to make it four. They fell just short of the South Salem Saxons by a score of 12-11. The Irish were not able to make up for their loss to the Saxons from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for South Salem, the win keeps they at an undefeated 29-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.8 runs this season.

For South Salem's part, Sawyer Nelson was a standout: he fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits Nelson has posted since May 6th. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Buckingham, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Sheldon nor South Salem have any future games scheduled.
