Recap: Manteca Buffaloes vs. Central Catholic Raiders
After a string of four wins, The Manteca Buffaloes''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central Catholic. Manteca has struggled against Central Catholic recently, as their match on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Manteca lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryson Davis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 228 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Davis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Julian Moncada was in the mix too, providing Manteca with two touchdowns.
Tyler Wentworth was his usual excellent self, throwing for 225 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Brooklyn Cheek was another key contributor, picking up 102 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Manteca's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Central Catholic, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manteca will face off against Oakdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Sierra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sierra will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Central Catholic is ranked 34th).
