Baseball Recap: Jal Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Jal challenged Eunice on Tuesday. The Panthers fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 4-3. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Cristian Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jal saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Juarez, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Jal has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Eunice, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jal will head out to face off against Loving at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Eunice, they will face off against Lovington at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
