Summit Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Sylvia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Sylvia is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Meanwhile, American Fork never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past Provo 15-0. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Cavemen this season.
Eleni Llsonbee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Llsonbee was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Andi Gardner was a standout: she scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennedy McKinney, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.
American Fork hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.
American Fork's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Summit Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Summit Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .524. However, it's not like American Fork struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
