League recap: Priest River bests Bonners Ferry in blowout

3A Intermountain recap Oct. 16, 2012

Priest River took down Bonners Ferry 45-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cameron Riley threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 192 yards in the win.

The Spartans made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,652 from 10,265. The advance stemmed from a 45-7 victory over the Badgers last week.

Priest River's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. RC Akre helped Priest River's passing attack out by catching five balls for 76 yards.

Tyler Barber was the best wideout in 3A Intermountain this week as Shane Douglas' team defeated Bonners Ferry. Barber tallied four receptions for 82 yards.

Priest River's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Riley has thrown for 1668 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Akre has 51 catches for 623 yards. Riley also leads the league in rushing with 958 yards.

Riley of the the Spartans is only 42 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Priest River takes on the Tigers. The Spartans' offense has racked up 238 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Timberlake has allowed only 168 on the year.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Priest River takes on Roy Albertson's team. The Spartans have allowed 209 points this season, while the Tigers have given up 168. Priest River allowed 7 points last week as it topped Casey McLaughlin's team.
