Football Recap: Standley Lake Takes a Loss

Standley Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Skyline Falcons 55-28. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Teagan Leighton and Jaden Epps certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Leighton rushed for 94 yards and a pair of TDs, while Epps gained 156 total yards and a touchdown. Leighton was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.

Standley Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Skyline, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Standley Lake will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Skyline, they will venture away from home to square off against Riverdale Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Ravens' defense has only allowed 4.8 points per game this season, so the Falcons' offense will have their work cut out for them.
