Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Takes a Loss

Santa Fe played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 56-22 loss at the hands of the Fleming Island Golden Eagles. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fleming Island's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gianna Crawford led the charge by putting up six points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Seven Gourdet, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 11 points.

Santa Fe's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Fleming Island, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Santa Fe and Fleming Island could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Santa Fe (ranked 407th) will meet Fort White (ranked 77th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Similarly, Fleming Island (ranked 229th) will meet Bolles (ranked 14th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
