Softball Recap: Central Dragons vs. Penn Cambria Panthers

Central had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it five. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Penn Cambria Panthers. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Alexis Fetzer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Fries, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Penn Cambria, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-13 record. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

On Penn Cambria's side, Grace Sheehan and Aubree Rickens did most of the damage at the plate: Sheehan went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Rickens went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits Rickens has posted since back in March. Logan Krug was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Central is set to challenge their familiar foe Clearfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Penn Cambria will face off against rival Greater Johnstown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
