Softball Recap: Mohave Accelerated Patriots vs. Morenci Wildcats

Mohave Accelerated came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Morenci Wildcats and snuck past 7-6. That's two games straight that Mohave Accelerated has won by just one run.

Megan Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. Jones has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tanner Banks, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in the last five games she's played. Like Mohave Accelerated, Morenci also got a great game from a two-way player: Cameryn Woodall.
