Softball Recap: Providence's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

While Providence's win against East Mecklenburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Providence skirted past East Mecklenburg 7-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won ten contests in a row.

Providence got a great performance from Averie Jones as she struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Jones has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Pheonix Scott was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson McAllister, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Providence pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Mecklenburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Providence Panthers face off against Charlotte Catholic Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Mecklenburg, they will face off against Ballantyne Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
