Basketball Game Preview: Indian River Braves vs. Deep Creek Hornets

Indian River hasn't had much luck against Deep Creek recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Indian River Braves are taking a road trip to challenge the Deep Creek Hornets at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Indian River came up short against Grassfield and fell 56-46. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Grizzlies are ranked 28th).

Meanwhile, Deep Creek had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 55-42 victory over the Warriors.

Deep Creek has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.9 points per game. As for Indian River, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Indian River took a serious blow against Deep Creek when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 83-21. Can Indian River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
