Baseball Recap: Charlotte Takes a Loss

Charlotte lost against Three Rivers back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Charlotte Trojans came up short against the Three Rivers Bulldogs, falling 12-4. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Josh Gaitan was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Charlotte: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

Gaitan wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Sanchez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Charlotte's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Three Rivers, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charlotte will welcome Brackett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Three Rivers, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Knippa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Knippa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
