Baseball Game Preview: MACCRAY Wolverines vs. Canby Lancers

The MACCRAY Wolverines will square off against the Canby Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

MACCRAY couldn't beat Dawson-Boyd on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Wolverines fell 9-5 to the Blackjacks. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Blackjacks recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Canby entered their matchup against Yellow Medicine East on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lancers took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stings.

Jace Sigler and Jace Rangaard stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sigler went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Rangaard went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Sigler has hit this season. Ben Drietz was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

MACCRAY's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Canby, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Everything went MACCRAY's way against Canby in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as MACCRAY made off with a 14-3 victory. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
