Basketball Recap: Monroe's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Monroe had won five straight games and Bryson Simpkins did his part to make it six on Friday. The Monroe Redhawks took down the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets 62-47 thanks to Simpkins, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Clark, who posted six points. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.

Forest Hills' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Huntley, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was K.J Chambers, who put up ten points.

Monroe's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points over those games. As for Forest Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-13.

Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Forest Hills, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 90-24 win against Central Academy on the 17th.
