Smackover had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They never let the Prescott Curley Wolves get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Buckaroos also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2019.
Ava Walker made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Julia James was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was A'Olani Baugus, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Smackover hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.
