The Avon Park Red Devils will head out to face off against the Lakeland Dreadnaughts at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Avon Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Avon Park after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Sebring by a score of 10-9. While the Red Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Streaks 4-0 in the first period.

Skylar Hicks was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Kamya Brassell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Lakeland was a bit more limited in their game last Thursday. They lost 13-1 to Mulberry. The defeat continues a trend for the Dreadnaughts in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Avon Park, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-4.

Avon Park skirted past Lakeland 7-6 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avon Park since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
