Softball Recap: Kuna Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Kuna, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Borah Lions on Thursday as they made off with a 10-2 victory. The Kavemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Rylee Mangum made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since April 1st.

In other batting news, Kuna got a big performance out of Amber Harwood, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Harwood has posted since April 1st. The team also got some help courtesy of Remington Quick, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Kuna hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Kuna has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Borah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-18.

Coming up, Kuna will venture away from home to square off against Timberline at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Kavemen will need to watch out since the Wolves have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Borah, they will be playing at home against Eagle at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
