League recap: Becker dominating on the mound for Nevis

Northland league recap: 5/22/13

Austin Becker was the best pitcher in Northland this week, leading Nevis. Over the past week, he had two wins and 14 Ks.

Pine River-backus had a successful week, as it won four total games to lead the league. The Tigers beat Laporte 21-6, the Wildcats 10-0 and Northland 6-5.

The Tigers' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 30 hits and 14 walks to lead the league in both categories.

Nevis stole 16 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 52 steals on the year.

Three batters hit over .400 this week. Leading the pack was Austin Becker, who hit .636 by going 7-for-11.



The Tigers' Gavin Becker racked up eight RBIs this week, more than any other hitter. He now stands at 16 RBIs on the season, which puts him first in the league.

Victor Mastley was an RBI machine on Tuesday, as he knocked in four runs during Nevis' 19-4 win over Laporte. He went 3-for-3 and scored three runs.
