League recap: Basalt scores huge upset over Aspen

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Basalt, who took down 110th ranked Aspen, 7-3. Bert Garcia ran for 153 yards in the win.

Bayfield extended the longest winning streak in 2A Western this week by beating Pagosa Springs, 47-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

Grand Valley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyler Scott threw for 101 and three touchdowns and Trent Reidle had 70 yards receiving. On the ground Tanner Zimmerman chipped in 240 yards. Zimmerman helped Grand Valley's passing attack out by catching two balls for 18 yards.

Matt Williams made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Longhorns beat the Skiers. The junior recorded one fumble and racked up one sack.

Grand Valley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cardinals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Scott has thrown for 1145 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while Reidle has 24 catches for 409 yards. Zimmerman leads the league in rushing with 1486 yards.

TJ Pazell of the Bayfield is only 97 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Pazell has rushed for 903 yards on 106 carries so far this year.

Gary Heide's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on the Pirates. Matthew Knickerbocker threw for 22 yards and one touchdown and ran for 63 yards in the win.
