Preview: Wheaton Knights vs. Paint Branch Panthers
The Wheaton Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Paint Branch Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheaton is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Wheaton suffered a rough 74-48 defeat at the hands of Springbrook. While losing is never fun, Wheaton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Springbrook is ranked 123rd).
Meanwhile, even though Sherwood scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, Paint Branch still came out on top. Paint Branch took their contest against Sherwood 66-57. The win made it back-to-back wins for Paint Branch.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Paint Branch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaiah Lee, who scored 23 points. Lee is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Tientcheu, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Wheaton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Paint Branch, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
