Softball Game Preview: Marion Patriots vs. Greene County Tech Golden Eagles

Marion is 1-9 against Greene County Tech since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Patriots will look to defend their home field against the Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m.

Marion is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Bauxite on Thursday. They lost 9-1 to the Miners. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Patriots have suffered since March 29th.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Greene County Tech, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Mountain Home by a score of 6-1 on Thursday. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Greene County Tech's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Marion, their loss dropped their record down to 18-9.

Marion couldn't quite finish off Greene County Tech when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
