Basketball Recap: New Castle's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

New Castle had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. They breezed past the Bishop Canevin Crusaders to the tune of 79-45. The Hurricanes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

New Castle found their leader in freshman Kai Cox, who went 9-for-13 on his way to 20 points and seven assists. What's more, Cox also posted a 69% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Damian Harrison, who went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points along with seven boards and five steals.

New Castle was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

New Castle's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points over those games. As for Bishop Canevin, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

New Castle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop Canevin, they will host Seton LaSalle at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th.
