Mt. Pleasant scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 79-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Powers Catholic Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Oilers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Chargers are ranked fifth).

It was another big night for Jesse Cull, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds for Powers Catholic. The dominant performance gave Cull a new career-high in points. Dempsey Cull was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Mt. Pleasant's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Powers Catholic, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant will face off against Garber at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Powers Catholic, they will take on Dow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Powers Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Dow likes a good challenge.
