Southern Columbia Area and Loyalsock Township are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Southern Columbia Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Southern Columbia Area faced off against Bloomsburg on Monday. The Tigers blew past the Panthers 17-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Andrew Novak was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brayden Andrews, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Novak wasn't the only one making solid contact: Southern Columbia Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Loyalsock Township beat Lewisburg 12-9 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Green Dragons: they've now won three in a row.
Loyalsock Township let Dolan Harman and John Kiehl run wild. Harman went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Kiehl scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those four RBI gave Harman a new career-high. Drake Dupont was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Southern Columbia Area's record now sits at 6-2. As for Loyalsock Township, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.
Loyalsock Township's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Southern Columbia Area has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Loyalsock Township, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Southern Columbia Area's sizable advantage in that area, the Lancers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Southern Columbia Area took their win against Loyalsock Township in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
