Baseball Recap: Del Norte Comes Up Short

The matchup between Del Norte and Cibola on Tuesday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. Del Norte came up short against Cibola, falling 17-7. The Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Del Norte saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Hovey, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Michael Martinez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Del Norte's loss dropped their record down to 1-8-1. As for Cibola, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Del Norte will square off against Manzano at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manzano has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.77 runs per game on average), something Del Norte will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cibola, they will head out to take on Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cibola is facing Valley at the right time seeing as Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
