Two dominant backs in Kamden Fragale and Jonah Ganoe are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cameron County Raiders will challenge the Smethport Hubbers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cameron County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 29.8 points per game this season.
Things were looking good for Cameron County after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 23-12 to Brookville. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, Cameron County couldn't push the score so high this time.
Although Cameron County took the loss, they still got scores from Malakai Zucal and Fragale.
Smethport never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Otto-Eldred/Oswayo Valley on Friday. They breezed past Otto-Eldred/Oswayo Valley to the tune of 52-6. Considering the Hubbers have won three contests by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Smethport's win came from a few key players Cameron County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jude Kisko, who rushed for 187 yards and one TD while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles. Mason Swanson was another key player, throwing for 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five passes.
Smethport was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 431 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Smethport's defense and their four sacks. In that department, Kisko was the leader with two.
Cameron County's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Smethport, their record now sits at 3-6.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Cameron County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 192.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Smethport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 211.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Cameron County strolled past Smethport in their previous matchup back in September by a score of 38-22. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ganoe, who rushed for 219 yards and one score while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 120 receiving yards and one TD. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Raiders still be able to contain Ganoe? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
