Basketball Recap: Shalhevet Comes Up Short

Shalhevet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pilibos Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Firehawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Eagles are ranked 121st).

Antranik Balian was his usual excellent self, going 10 for 23 en route to 25 points and eight boards for Pilibos. Balian's evening made it 17 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was David Boyadjian, who posted five points.

Shalhevet's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Pilibos, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Shalhevet has already played their next game, an 83-57 victory against Ambassador on the 15th. As for Pilibos, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Pilibos Eagles challenge the Oakwood Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pilibos is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.7 points per game this season.
