Baseball Game Preview: Elkton Golden Elks vs. Rising Sun Tigers

Elkton is 2-8 against Rising Sun since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Golden Elks will welcome the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Elkton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Elkton needed a bit of extra time to put away Harford Tech. They had just enough and edged out the Cobras 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Elks have posted against the Cobras since April 23, 2018.

Brandon Jay looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jeremy Ruth, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Taino Jurry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Rising Sun's offense. They lost 9-0 to Northeast on Wednesday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Elkton's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Rising Sun, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
