Basketball Recap: Saniya Bell and Claire Schnecker Secure Win for Ossining

Ossining waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 82-79 win over the Greeley Quakers. Given the Pride's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Quakers are ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ossining was led to victory by Claire Schnecker and Saniya Bell. Schnecker dropped a double-double on 32 points and 15 rebounds, while Bell posted 28 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Schnecker a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Torrieri, who put up six points and seven assists.

Ossining smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Ossining is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Greeley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Ossining will be playing in front of their home fans against Port Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Ossining's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games. Greeley has already played their next contest (against Fox Lane), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
