Preview: Windsor Academy Knights vs. Westwood Wildcats
Windsor Academy has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Westwood Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Windsor Academy faced Crisp Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Windsor Academy really took it to Crisp Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-6 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Windsor Academy, who have now won three contests by 35 points or more so far this season.
Windsor Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Merritt led the charge by throwing for 188 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes. Another player making a difference was Peyton Newman, who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Westwood had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on Covenant Academy with a sharp 42-18 victory.
Windsor Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Westwood, their victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-3.
Windsor Academy strolled past Westwood in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 22-6. Does Windsor Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
