Mt. Rainier waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Kennedy Catholic Lancers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-9 on April 2nd.

Kadence Avila Petitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Avila Petitt was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Sydney Young looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Vienna Valeri was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Gabbi Hammock was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Mt. Rainier now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Kennedy Catholic, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mt. Rainier will take on rival Kentwood at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Kennedy Catholic is set to square off against their familiar foe Kentridge at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
