Volleyball Game Preview: Conard Red Wolves vs. Southington Blue Knights

The Conard Red Wolves will square off against the Southington Blue Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Conard will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Conard is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Hall, who was ranked 14th at the time (Conard was ranked first). The Red Wolves put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-11, 25-19.

Jonah W was the offensive standout of the game as he had 11 digs and one assist. Rafael O also deserves some recognition as he had his first blocks of the season.

Meanwhile, Southington came up short against Newington on Friday, falling 3-0.

Southington was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-23.

Southington's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Conard, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Conard has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Southington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Everything went Conard's way against Southington in their previous meeting back in April, as Conard made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Red Wolves repeat their success, or do the Blue Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
