Recap: Jordan-Matthews Jets vs. Southeast Alamance Stallions
The Jordan-Matthews Jets struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Southeast Alamance Stallions had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Jordan-Matthews was beaten by Southeast Alamance 53-20. While losing is never fun, Jordan-Matthews can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while Southeast Alamance is ranked 130th).
Despite the loss, Jordan-Matthews still got an impressive performance from Lia Carter, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Carter scored a full 55% of Jordan-Matthews' points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Charley Lemons, who scored four points.
Southeast Alamance's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shaniya Paylor, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Lopez, who scored 12 points.
Jordan-Matthews' defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.0 points per game. As for Southeast Alamance, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jordan-Matthews will take on Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southeast Alamance, they will be playing at home against Bartlett Yancey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
