Softball Recap: Cooperstown Beats Hamilton for Their Third Straight Victory

Cooperstown barely beat Hamilton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawkeyes put the hurt on the Emerald Knights with a sharp 10-2 win on Wednesday. The Hawkeyes' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Emerson Lippitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Lippitt wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bella Reich, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Grace Sperry was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Cooperstown's record is now 3-0. As for Hamilton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Cooperstown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 22-6 win against New York Mills on the 1st. As for Hamilton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-6 loss against Sauquoit Valley on the 1st.
