Baseball Game Preview: Middletown Blue Dragons vs. Avon Falcons

The Middletown Blue Dragons will head out to square off against the Avon Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Middletown came up short against Northwest Catholic on Wednesday, falling 7-1. The Blue Dragons have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Middletown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Frankie Randazzese, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double was Randazzese's first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avon). They put the hurt on Lewis Mills with a sharp 14-5 victory on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

The win got Avon back to even at 4-4. As for Middletown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Middletown suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Avon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
