Softball Game Preview: Paradise Bobcats vs. Central Valley Falcons

The Paradise Bobcats will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Central Valley Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Paradise will be strutting in after a victory while Central Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Paradise is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Oroville. Paradise blew past Oroville 14-1 on Friday.

Grace Meldrum was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Sequoya Fields was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Grace Buzzard was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Paradise kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oroville only managed seven hits.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Central Valley was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They came up short against Chico, falling 15-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Falcons have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Central Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Lanzit, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Paradise took their win against Central Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 23-1. Will Paradise repeat their success, or does Central Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
